Hello Centrals Families,
On behalf of the Club I would like to welcome everyone back for another big season of cricket. In the winter the Club has been busy securing a new Senior Coach, a new net facility (to be completed this financial year) and most importantly a great junior coaching team.
This season we will have Under 12 modified, Under 12’s and Under 14’s in the City of Moorabbin Cricket Association.
Leading the coaching team in Under 12 Modified will again be Mark Alston. With his patient and fair approach, all in this team will quickly develop key skills and a hunger for cricket. The successful integration of the Milo in2Cricket players into this team is critical for the junior program and Mark has made all the kids feel relaxed and keen for more.
Taking the coaching reins in the Under 12 Team will be Club Legend Craig Amoore. The Club’s leading player for the past two decades, Craig will bring great knowledge and experience to this Team. He also has a number of able assistants lined up including Assistant Coach Jacob McMahon and parents Angus Hamilton and Simon O’Neill. All have recently completed the Level 1 Cricket Coaching Course and are keen to guide this budding group along.
With our Under 14’s building from the strong Under 12 program we are fortunate to have ever enthusiastic Sean Crisp leading the way. Known to many as “Crispy”, Sean is a former Junior Champion at the Centrals and has coached many of our Under 12’s in the past years. Sean is keen to see the boys achieve their full potential and is confident with what he has to work with. The Under 14’s are looking to recruit 1-2 players and at this stage are entered to play in the Friday twilight competition. With Sean’s busy new job in the city, we are keen to secure additional assistance in getting boys to cricket and kicking the games off on Friday afternoons. Any parents/supporters able to assist on a regular basis would be great appreciated.
Also, for our older Under 14’s and 16’s we are entering a lower grade Senior Team for them to play with some of our “experienced” Seniors. This is a great forum to hone skills and will provide an opportunity for a few father and sons to have a game together; a great tradition at the Centrals.
Again, although we have the key coaches in place, the Junior Club is keen to have as many parents involved as possible. Please feel free to ring me or one of the coaches if you are able to assist in a coaching/ management role, or indeed another role around the Club. The Club is keen to support as many junior parents as possible to attain coaching accreditations and of course to have an input in the running of junior cricket.
Recruiting will be most important for the Club this year as we push through the age groups. At this stage all Teams have vacancies and as everyone is aware, we strive to provide opportunity for all and a sense of belonging. Please keep this in mind and encourage a friend or two to the Club.
In the build up to our first game, some skills and registration sessions are planned and the complete training schedule will be advised, once we are up and running.
The initial Registration and Training Sessions will be held:
• Saturday 1st September 2012, from 10.00am at Simpson Reserve.
• Saturday 8th September 2012, from 10.00am at Simpson Reserve.
The Junior Fixture Dates will come through in the next few weeks, with the first games likely to be the second weekend in October.
Also, for any budding younger brothers and sisters, our Milo Program will again be running for 12 weeks beginning in late October. If you know of any interested families please let them know and refer them to our Website, or the MyCricket Website. I will attach an email flyer shortly for the Milo Program.
If you wish to discuss any aspects of the coming Season, please do not hesitate to call me on 0407816896.
