Hello Centrals Families,
We are now in the final run home of the Season. Great to see so many happy families and Juniors involved around the Club. In particular great to see all the T20 Group, with additional recruits since the Xmas break, throwing themselves around at training and games!
It is heartening to have so much positive feedback about the various Junior programs and in particular the new alignment with the Melbourne Stars. Many have enjoyed the T20 concept and our Club has been duly rewarded for its support receiving a large screen TV (55”) and signed cricket bat to use for fundraising.
Well done to our six representative cricketers over the Xmas Break, who all performed with aplomb. Also, thank you to all the Club supporters that made it along to support.
Couple of key events are upcoming, so please note in your diaries.
1. Saturday 14/2/2015 – “Rival Night” – Australia vs England at the Club, 6ish onwards.
With the first ODI World Cup Game on tomorrow at the MCG, we encourage all supporters not attending the big game, to join us at the Club from 6ish onwards. The BBQ will be on and the bar open. With a healthy input of English supporters at the Club, we are even supplying some English refreshments (not sure if it will served hot or cold!). All attending are encouraged to wear some traditional supportive gear and get into the atmosphere of the Cricket World Cup.
2. Indian Extravaganza Night at Krishna Indian Restaurant
Steve Hay’s annual Indian Extravaganza is on Saturday Feb 21st…. Click Attending on our facebook event so we get an indication for numbers! It will be $40 per head on the night so please ensure you bring the cash and give it to Steve on the night. The club will also have an esky there as it’s a BYO venue – drinks at bar prices.
3. Sunday 22/2/2015 – Family Double Wicket, Simpson Reserve, 930am kick off.
Following the great success of last year’s event the Club is keen to host a return of the “Double Wicket” challenge. Again with many Father/ Son combinations playing during the year and much interest from the Junior Club, we are keen to build on this enthusiasm. A separate email regarding this event will follow shortly.
4. Junior and Senior Finals – March
These will run through March and we are confident of at least the Under 14’s and Under 16’s taking part. We encourage all Club Supporters to drop in and provide support to our Juniors. The Senior Club is also in a good position to figure in Finals, with many of our Juniors involved. More details to follow at a later stage.
5. Junior Presentation – late March
This is likely to be a midweek night in the last week of March, just before school holidays and the Easter Break, whilst we have the Clubrooms. All Junior Teams representing the Centrals will be invited including: T20 Blasters, Rookies, Under 12s, 14s and 16s. Again more details to follow at a later stage
Thank you to our committed Coaches and Managers for their great work during the Season , as well as the many parents and siblings assisting and supporting to deliver a great product.
Also, nearly forgot – if you require some Club Merchandise, we were re-stocked of playing shirts and other items over the Xmas Break. Please see me, or our Treasurer Ian Wilkinson if you require a “fresh” look.
