A massive performance by Andrew Considine and a bit of luck going to B2B Burger Kings having him step in as captain for Round 8 have closed the gap at the top of the table. It looks to be a two horse race now between Big Farken Maxi and the Burger Kings. The two key things to keep an eye on going forward are the performance of both team’s captains and the six differences in personnel that the sides have.

Captains/Deputies: Steve May/Nick Travers for the Maxis and Andrew Ferguson/Andrew Considine for the Kings
Roster Differences: T Layzell, M Devola, D White, A Marshall, I Travers and B Layzell for Maxis vs.  C Amoore, S McDonald, I Travers, N Fallon, M Rogers, N Murray-White for Kings. Continue reading…

A disappointing round of results for Centrals with all four teams going down in close contests. A lot of stand out individual performances though. Adrian ‘Dish’ Warry finally got rewards for his spectacular season of bowling taking his first 5 for, S May chipped in with another lazy 4. A Considine continued his great season with a massive game in the 3rds scoring 121 and taking a couple of wickets.

It was the same old story in the fantasy competition this week. ‘Big Farken Maxi’ ended the year on a high with another convincing 1st place for the round, extending their lead at the top of the ladder. The rest of a field have a lot of catching up to do and will be hoping to use the Christmas trading period in order to become more competitive. Continue reading…

Round 6 – Week 1 – Weekend Wrap

Hampton Central 1st XI are all but over the line against Elwood after week 1 of Round 6. Steve May was the star with 6/57, supported brilliantly by A Warry 1/17 off 16 overs and N Hunt 3/25! The Centrals kept Elwood to 111 and are already 0/48 in reply. Surely, only bad weather could halt the Centrals boys from a victory in the second week.

In the corresponding fixture in the 2nds, Elwood are in a much stronger position after HCCC let them get away from them 4/88, allowing them to get to 5/227. Similarly, in the 3rds the Centrals have been set 194 for victory next week. Both of those games should be pretty hard fought next week!

The news isn’t so good in the 4ths, with Centrals facing an uphill battle against Aspendale. Set 5/280 declared, the Centrals are already 1/13.

1st XI – Longmuir Shield
Hampton Central
0/48 chasing Elwood 111
Batting: C Amoore 26* and D Gold 18
Bowling: S May 6/57 and N Hunt 3/25 Continue reading…
