Hello Everyone,
Hoping all families have made it through the Winter sports and “colds” seasons and are now looking forward to Junior Cricket!
This Season is sure to be a most memorable one for the Club, as we celebrate our 75th Year and open the Pavilion Upgrade. Council has informed us the Pavilion is on track for the end of September and the new facilities are looking very impressive. In the Leadership of the Club we are most pleased to report three of our former Juniors have joined the Club Committee and are keen to put back in to the Club. They are most interested in assisting the Junior Programs and promoting the Club further. Generally all play in our First Eleven and it is terrific to see this commitment to the Club with University and the many commitments Generation Ipod have. Well done Alex Hay, Nigel Hunt and Jacob McMahon!
With our growing Milo Program over the last few years we are now in the position to have an U12 Modified Team, as well as our more experienced U12 Team. Mark Alston, one of Milo Co-ordinators from the last few years, has kindly agreed to coach/manage the U12 Modified Team. No doubt this group of kids will continue to develop their skills and have a great time.
Similarly to last year, we are very fortunate Sean Crisp will be our Under 12’s Coach/Manager. Known to many as “Crispy”, Sean is a former Junior Champion who came through the ranks at Centrals. Sean is keen for involvement from as many parents as possible and will again pass on his experience and wisdom to the kids.
With the age group changes we currently stand with just over half a team in the U14s and we are keen to recruit for this team and have our own stand alone team. If we are unable to recruit sufficiently I have a fallback position.
Our U16’s will continue the very successful arrangement with Moorabbin West from last year and again we should have 4-5 Centrals boys to support.
Recruiting will be most important for the Club this year as we expand the team numbers again. All Teams have vacancies and as everyone is aware, we strive to provide opportunity for all and a sense of belonging. Please keep this in mind and encourage a friend or two to the Club.
The Junior Fixture Dates have just come through. With the AFL Grand Final in October this year, the Juniors will kick off on the third weekend of October as follows:
U14 and U16s – Friday 14th October 2011 (one-dayer).
U12 and U12 Modified – Saturday 15th October 2011 (one-dayer).
In the build up to our first game, regular training and registration sessions are planned and the complete training schedule will be advised, once we are up and running.
The initial Registration and Training Sessions will be held:
• Saturday 3rd September 2011, from 10.00am at Simpson Reserve.
• Saturday 10th September 2011, from 10.00am at Simpson Reserve.
Please make the effort to come down to training and work on that early Season form. It pays off.
Also, for any budding younger brothers and sisters, our Milo Program will again be running for 10 weeks beginning in late October. If you know of any interested families please let them know and refer them to our Website, or the MyCricket webiste. I will attach an email flyer shortly for the Milo Program.
If you wish to discuss any aspects of the coming Season, please do not hesitate to call me on 0407816896.
Regards,
Trevor Layzell
HCCC Junior Coordinator
P.S.- If you are not intending to play this Season, I would appreciate if you could advise me.
