The home and away season for Junior Cricket has now concluded.  Again, thank you to our dedicated Coaches and Managers for providing a supportive and fun cricketing experience. 

It has been a fantastic season and the Club is very proud to have 4 of its 5 junior underage teams in finals starting this weekend. The achievement is a great outcome and testament to our coaches, families and Junior cricketers, all supporting each other at training, on game day and around the Club.

Finals start tonight, with:

Hunter da Silveira and Tom Wilkinson playing for the Under 14B Hampton United team. The team finished on top of the ladder undefeated and take on Port Melbourne in semi-final at Silitoe Reserve tonight (February 21 and 28,  4:30pm start). The boys have been strong performers in the Under 14 team and in our Seniors and we wish them good luck tonight!!

Next, we have “Super Sunday”, with all our Under 12s in finals.  the following

• Under 12B Central Sunday vs Mentone CC at home, W.L. Simpson Reserve, Hampton, Sunday 23rd February and Sunday 2nd March 2024, beginning @8:30am.

• Under 12C North Sunday vs Brighton Union CC at Hurlingham Park #1, Brighton East, Sunday 23rd February and Sunday 2nd March 2024, beginning @8:30am.

• Under 12C South Sunday vs Hampton CC at Peterson St Reserve #2, Highett, Hampton, Sunday 23rd February and Sunday 2nd March 2024, beginning @8:30am.

And then early next week, our girls in the combined team with Brighton are playing in a semi-final.  Again, some super performances by our Girls over the season and excellent leadership in the team!!

• Under 14B Wednesday vs EMT Titans, Whyte Street Reserve, Brighton, Wednesday 26th February, beginning @8:30am. T20 One Day game.

The support and encouragement of the Club’s Teams and our Juniors is always appreciated – hoping to see our many faithful wearing their “Two Blues” with pride.

Rubys team in the Under 14 Julia Savage Shield (Green Team) were unfortunate not to make the finals. However, we would like to recognise Rubys outstanding performance across the VMCU carnival, finishing up leading the aggregate in wickets with 13, at an unbelievable average of 6.54.

Once again, fixtures and results for the teams are on the PlayCricket app, under Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union.

Representing the All Girls Cricket Association from the South East of Melbourne, the girls have a busy schedule of games against some of the best cricket talent in the State.

Tessa is playing in the Under 12 Claudia Fatone Shield (Blue Team), with Ruby (left in photo with teammate Chloe) in the Under 14 Julia Savage (Green Team).

Both teams playing matches at Aspendale playing fields today.

The Club is covering the cost of the nets, please make a big effort to use the indoor facilities and build up some form and fitness.

To the senior players,

The dates below will be on Wednesdays from 8 to 9pm with 2 net access.

Saturday mornings at home (Simpson) will be confirmed at a later date.

To the junior players,

The dates below will be on Fridays from 5 to 6pm with 2 net access.

Saturday morning (Simpson) to be confirmed and publicised closer to time.

Encouraging all older Juniors (u14s and up) to attend the Senior trainings as well, if available.

Format: Light snacks (sausage sizzle and finger food) provided and refreshments available at the bar.

Presentation to follow at approximately 6.00pm.  (Rookies, Under 12’s and All Girls first, then a break). Again, this year we plan to have members from Under 14 All Girls Team, Under 12 Rookies, Under 12’s, Under 14’s and Under 18’s all part of the Presentation.  The late afternoon will be a great chance to catch up with other Families, celebrate our Teams’ achievements, as well as thank our Teams’ Coaches and Managers.
