Hello Centrals Families,

With winter sports nearing the end of their season and Australia rightfully retaining the Ashes (Men and Women), preparations are now carefully being put in place at the local level for the coming cricket Season 2023/24.

Significantly for cricket in Victoria, the PlayHQ system will now take over from MyCricket. Hopefully, this will be relatively seamless. Our Association and Clubs have been building the backend systems for registrations and fixturing, with advice and implementation for game scoring rollout and other functions to follow soon.

Along with this development, the Club has been in the early planning stages and is working towards the initial team nominations and formats for the season. To assist planning and to ensure our returning players are catered for firstly, we will soon circulate another age group-specific email, asking that you confirm your child’s intention to play this coming season, or not to play.

With teams, ideal gradings to confirm, and inquiries from outside the Club to join, it is important to hear from all our returning families in a timely manner. For those unsure which age group or team they may be earmarked, all players from last season will receive an email or phone call from the Club of their intended age group/team for this season, with an indication of the selection process, likely training dates, etc.

If you wish to register immediately, our PlayHQ registration portal is now open. Please click the attached button below:

(Once you open the Hampton Central CC Home Page, please click on Register and follow through the registration process)

A couple of PlayHQ items to be aware of:

Our Club has kept subscriptions low, however, when registering additional fees will now be payable to Cricket Victoria ($16) and SECA ($4), and All-Girls (zero) with the Play HQ system.

For those that have not used PlayHQ for other sports, likely you will need to create a profile for yourself and then register your child.

Near the end of the registration process, the fifth step, you will be asked to link previous cricket data, via your My Cricket ID. This will involve using the email address and password from previous Cricket Australia site logins, or quickly signing up and creating a Cricket ID with a phone number for login verification.

The Club is also keen to canvas our returning junior parents and families for aspiring Coaches/ Assistants/ Team Managers. If you are interested in a coaching/ management/ committee role for the coming season, or indeed another role around the Club, please do not be shy in letting the Club know. The Club appreciates as many junior parents as possible having an input in the running of junior cricket. To assist this objective the Club will be supporting Coaches to obtain Level 1 (Community Coaching) Accreditation and will have previous experienced Coaches to assist as needed and available to mentor.

In the build-up to the season proper, skills and pre-season training will be advised by respective Team Managers/ Coaches, once confirmed. The Junior Fixture Dates will come through closer to the Season commencement, with the first games likely to be on the 13/14/15 of October. For the ordering of Club gear (merchandise), this is best completed online by our PlayHQ portal when registering. However, a separate email will follow shortly around ordering personalized (sublimated) tops. Early orders and details are appreciated for personalized tops to avoid any stock supply issues.

Importantly for our older Under 14’s, Under 16’s, and Under 18s, the Club will again be entering a lower grade Senior Team, allowing many to play with some of our “experienced” Seniors. This is a great forum to hone skills and will provide an opportunity for a few parents and children to have a game together; a great tradition at the Centrals (I was fortunate enough to play a senior game with my daughter last year). If there are a few parents wishing to have a game, please let us know. There will be plenty of opportunities and we will have a level to suit!

To assist our publicizing and recruitment for the coming season we will shortly have promotional material and advertisements around the local area. Again, we would be pleased for any “word of mouth” referrals and peer group recruiting.

If you wish to discuss any aspects of the coming Season, please do not hesitate to send me an email, or call on 0407816896.

Regards,

Trevor Layzell
